In October, 2009 State Corporation «Rosatom» and China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) signed a minutes where they confirmed their desire and intention to continue cooperation in construction of the second phase of Tianwan NPP – the 3-rd and the 4-th units of the plant. For this purpose the parties have agreed to form a joint working group which is to settle the value of the Tianwan NPP extension project. On September 27, 2010 during the visit of Dmitry Medvedev, President of the Russian Federation, to the Peoples Republic of China the contract was signed for development of Tianwan NPS Second Phase Technical Design. On November 23, 2010 in St.-Petersburg the General Contract on Tianwan NPS Units 3&4 was signed. The contracting parties are Atomstroyexport JSC and Jiangsu Nuclear Power Corporation (JNPC).
Signing of the General Contract on Tianwan NPS Units 3&4 confirms a high scientific and technical level of domestic nuclear power engineering, experience and competence of the Russian designers and suppliers of the nuclear power equipment. The new stage of cooperation between Russia and China creates a good basis in this area for strengthening the leading positions of Atomstroyexport JSC in the NPP construction international competitive market.
