The status of the leading engineering company for nuclear construction abroad allows ASE JSC to use the accumulated potential for realization of the Russian power projects, including construction and modernization of thermal power engineering facilities
On March 25, 2009 Joint-Stock Company “Third Generating Company of Electric Power Wholesale Market” (OGK-3 JSC) published the tender invitation announcement, without preliminary qualification selection, for awarding a contract on “Construction of Yuzhnouralsk GRES-2 Power Complex based on the EPC Model”. Atomstroyexport JSC presented its bid (offer) for consideration by the Central Tender Commission of OGK-3 JSC investment and financial activity. The procedure of opening of envelopes with bids of participants of the tender, among which there were Russian and foreign companies, took place on May 25, 2009. In total the Tender Commission considered eight bids (offers). Taking into account the high competitiveness of ASE JSC bid and its full conformity to the tender documentation requirements, on August 6, 2009 the Central Tender Commission of OGK-3 JSC made a decision to recognize Atomstroyexport JSC as a successful Bidder and award the company with a contract on construction of Yuzhnouralsk GRES-2 on a “turnkey” basis.
On October 16, 2009 Atomstroyexport Joint-Stock Company and Joint-Stock Company “Third Generating Company of Electric Power Wholesale Market” signed the contract based on the EPC model for construction of Yuzhnouralsk GRES-2 power complex. The contract was signed by Vladimir Vasilievich Kolmogorov, the Director General of OGK-3 JSC, and Alexander Anatolievich Gluhov, the First Vice-president of Atomstroyexport Joint-Stock Company.
According to the customer’s technical solution Yuzhnouralsk GRES-2 power complex is a condensing combined-cycle power station (CCP-CPS) consisting of three power units of 1200 MW total capacity (3 units of 400 MW each) with auxiliary structures and communications. The offer of ASE JSC includes construction of three “single-shaft” power units with individual capacity of 415 MW on the basis of Siemens “Power Island” (GTU + STU + generator) and the three-circuit recovery boiler. Commissioning of the first unit of Yuzhnouralsk GRES-2 is scheduled in 4th quarter of 2012, the second and third units - if the customer confirms necessity of their construction - by December 2014.
